Caron Cloud Cakes Yarn Review

Caron Cloud Cakes is described as “a heavenly blend of softness and colors” on the Yarnspirations website. I would have to agree.
Disclaimer this yarn is now unfortunately discontinued.

Caron Cloud Cakes Yarn Review by Summerbug Crafts

Hi everyone!

Now that I’m almost 30, everyone I know is starting the next chapter in their lives by getting married and having babies. Although I’m not ready to be a mom quite yet, there’s nothing I love more than crocheting a gift for a mother-to-be and her new baby.

This led me to head out to my local Michael’s and search for the perfect yarn for a baby blanket. The gender of the baby has been kept a secret so I had to make sure the colour was gender neutral, as well as wanting to make sure it could be machine wash and dryable. No one has time to hand wash things with a newborn!

I spotted Caron Cloud Cakes and the texture, colour, and ability to be machine-washed and dried sold me. The North Western Baby Blanket was born.

I’ve always loved the Caron Cakes line of yarn. I’ve never been disappointed. It is always worth the money in my opinion, but this one really takes the cake! Get it?

What is Caron Cloud Cakes Yarn?

Caron Cloud Cakes is a 100% polyester yarn that is deliciously fluffy and soft. Described on the Yarnspirations website as “a heavenly blend of softness and colors. This delightful yarn is perfect for creating deliciously soft garments, blankets, shawls, and more! Every stitch brings a touch of enchantment. Elevate your knit and crochet projects with the lofty, fleecy texture of Caron Cloud Cakes yarn.”

Colour:

With 23 variegated shades to choose from, there is a colour for everyone. From neutrals to brights, Caron Cloud Cakes has it all!

Feel:

Described as soft and fluffy to the touch, this is correct. My fiancé found it difficult to let go of this blanket when it came time to mail it out as a gift. He’s one of those guys who can’t touch cotton balls, so that’s how nice Caron Cloud Cakes feels on the fingers.

Ease of Use:

I’ve always found size 4 yarns the easiest to use. That may be because I learned how to crochet by this size. I did find Caron Cloud Cakes easy to use. My double crochets flew while designing the North Western Baby Blanket.

Skill Level:

Caron Cloud Cakes is 100% a beginner-friendly yarn. It’s a shame it is now a discontinued yarn because I would buy it over and over again if I could.

Caron Cloud Cakes was amazing to use and the colourways were such a delight. I’ve always loved a pretty variegated yarn. It was also nice to work with a textured yarn where the stitches were visible. I know I rarely post a negative yarn review. This one is another rave!

The only problem is that yarn companies need to stop discontinuing these lines. Yarnspirations, please bring this one back!
